Well, today is our last day here in the Big Apple and I must say I am pretty sad:( I wish I could stay in fantasy land for a little while longer instead of having to go back to real life so soon: getting up early everyday for work & to bring the boys to school, dealing with family issues, etc. Since we've been here I haven't had to think about anything but what are we gonna do today fellas? I haven't really talked to anyone on the phone from back home - that can wait...we're on vacation mane!
My best friend flew in Friday evening from Florida and we went to an underground reggae club in Crown Heights Saturday night. Boy let me tell ya, that was the most fun I've had in a long time!!!!!!!! I danced with so many dreds & rastas that night...it was a real good time. I can't wait to come back here. At first I was starting to feel a little homesick, but once you get outta the touristy areas & start mingling with the locals, really experiencing things, it's all good. I even half-jokingly asked the boys what they thought about coming back to live. Not that I'm serious though (unless maybe my girl really does move here from FL like she's talking about, then I might follow her).
Anyways, I'll be back soon. We're already planning our next trip back here in August or September. I'm going back to that same club and a few more too. So, although I'm sad to go, I'm looking forward to coming back.

Car update
Well, nothing great has happened with the Durango yet. Turns out it wasn't the clutch but the transmission that went out again. My uncle has been arguing with the place that I bought the first tranny from to see if they were gonna honor the 101 day warranty: turns out they're not. I just got off the phone with my uncle who said that they won't (the reasons he gave sound like a bunch of B.S. to me but what can I do?) so that means I have to shell out some more dough for another one. This really sucks. For the last 2 weeks I've had to rent a car for $33 a day which has been a big pain in my butt and my wallet, but at least I've had reliable transportation to do my business deliveries & get my kids to and from school. I never should've bought this freakin thing & just held onto my money until a Toyota came along like I really wanted. When I get the dang thing back from my uncle I plan on getting rid of it, either by selling it or donating it to charity (for the tax write-off I'd get for my business).
Really though, I would feel bad pawning this "problem" off on someone else. God, please hurry and bless me with my new, white LandCruiser.
On the lighter side of things, me & my boys are in NYC right now as I type, on a lil vacation. My cousin's getting married and it's also my oldest sons birthday so we're here enjoying ourselves for a few days. My best friend will be joining us tomorrow...and I can't wait! I haven't seen her in about a year and a half, so we're gonna have fun together hanging out this weekend.
Me & the boys hung out in Central Park for several hours today, going on a horse carriage ride, a bike tour and watching a breakdancing group - the NYC Transformers - perform. They're actually really good. But the crowd wasn't showin no love so they cut they're performance short. I took the boys to Toys R Us in Times Square and boy, that place was crazy! This whole city is crazy period! Way different from what us laid back Alaskans are used to. The crowds, the traffic, the noise...It's a fun place to visit for a few days but I'd never wanna live here. Especially the traffic man - my cousin lives in New Jersey and owns 2 vehicles, but still has to take the bus everyday to work in Manhattan. Ain't that crazy? Not for me.
Well, I'm gonna sign off for now. Hope you all find my blog interesting. Comment if you do, or even if you don't.

Car troubles...again
Today was a pretty good day for me & the boys, except for the Durango is going out again. We got up this morning & went to church (the message was about finding a promise from God in the bible and holding to it, laboring to get His word in our heart so he can manifest himself to us). If those are big words and hard to understand, sorry, but you churchgoers out there feel me, right? I have many promises I'm standing on right now, such as prosperity for my company, getting my store & delivery van this year, getting outta debt, my mom & dad getting back together, someone who's very close to me - you know who you are - getting off drugs and on the right track. Right now I'm at the point where I'm trying to just let go of worry & stress, do my part, and let God do his part.
Anyways on the way home my truck started acting up again. For those of you who don't know, I have a 1998 Dodge Durango that I just purchased in January of this year (I was in a bad MVA in December and my 4Runner was totaled). And ever since then I have had nothing but problems with it. The guy that sold it to me totally lied about the condition of it and now I'm stuck with a lemon. So far I've had to replace the transmission, brakes & engine computer and now it looks like the clutch (or so I've been told) is going out. My uncle - a mechanic - is coming to take a look at it tomorrow, but man, I'm about out of money because of what I've poured into it already. This really sucks because not only do I need my truck to get my kids to & from school, but also to make my business deliveries.
I run a company - Fruit Arrangements by Design - and what I do is make fruit bouquets and chocolate dipped arrangements. I love what I do. It's a lot of fun and I'm very passionate about it: making sure I have the best fruit on hand, making sure the bouquet is perfect and beautiful. I love to get feedback from my customers telling me how much they loved my product, the reaction they got from their guests, how delicious it tasted. It makes me happy to make them happy.
So a part of my job is making the deliveries. Since I don't currently have my own store yet - that's one of the things I'm waiting on the Lord to bless me with - and I rent out kitchen space, I only offer delivery. Once I get my store I can offer customers the option to come and pick it up if they want to. So without a dependable vehicle, making those deliveries is tough. A few weeks ago when the engine computer went out my sister was gracious enough to let me borrow her car during the day while she was at work, but even then I had to find a way to get to where she was so me & the boys had to take a cab from our house to her job which cost $24 every day for a week! Now don't get the wrong idea...even though I own my own business I am by no means rich or well off. It's still new and I'm still trying to get customers and grow it and barely make enough to cover my business expenses and personal bills. So this added expense threw my budget way off.
Long story short I'm hoping this new problem with the truck doesn't cost me too much because honestly, I don't have it. I wish my dream car - a brand new, white Toyota Land Cruiser - would fall out of the sky and into my driveway so I could finally just be done with this headache.
Well, thank you for listening to me complain. Though I don't think of myself as much of a whiner, somehow that all changes when I'm typing, and I'm not sure why. I'm about to call my sister now and see if I can borrow her car for tomorrow.
